The goddess Venus

Whilst excavating  in Gloucestershire

What do you imagine that they found

a statue of the goddess Venus

made of pipe clay thick with mud

It had  laid there centuries

love and beauty sea and flood

impeccable condition

except it had lost its  base

but there it was  a classic figure

,lost without a trace

by some Roman person

all those years before

Supposedly in  a Roman dump

Just lying on  the floor

seven inches of artistry

those finding her  felt she

was  very very special

Marino Cardelli

was the Project officer

of Cotswold Archaeology

and finding such a object

Understood  the   symbology

clearly  a construction

a project said to be

the forum  a new development

significance and gravity.

all that history brought to,life

a crucial moment she

was found there sum and substance

well proportioned thankfully.
