New born  simply put

Now Zad

that was the dogs name

soldiers in the desert

where the Taliban oft claim

lives

we meet the challenge

sitting targets we

are living with such wickedness

and inhumanity

from time to time

we find them the stray dogs

alone too

unliked and apparently

what so many do

is become the pets of soldiers

in their unfallen state

and Pen Farthing

has rescued some,

and out there he does create

a haven for the canines

a sharing in a way

a loving  so in offensive

a relationship they say

perhaps a voice of conscience

a penance in a way

and now we know in

Afghanistan

the dogs do make their day
