The strength of will
Is with each bulb
That determination to
Be so minded to flourish
Its necessity is true
Ruled by the planet Venus
Its gender Feminine
Its element is Water
Where powers of love
Begin

To realise the instinctive urge
Compelled to push on through
The frozen ground
And snow its found
A submissiveness to view
The icy air
The sudden gusts
A single -mindedness
And indefatigability
Unflagging with much stress

Tenacious game and gutsy
To push into the light
It wants to make its statement
Its objective is to fight
The icy winds that are severe
That offer misery
It clearly holds a vision
To foresee necessity

Of Waves of golden trumpets
In pursuit of Spring
Dancing to the familiar tones
That a greying sky can bring
The supremacy and significance
Of all those golden flowers
Their urgency of togetherness
Dodging sweeping showers

With their delicate godlike forms
Their potency their clout
For love spells and fertility
Is there any doubt
Lent Lillies in the foreground
Narcissus the Latin name
In times gone by
A youth in love with his own look
To blame

Obsessed by his reflection
In pools and streams where he
Was turned into a Daffodil
So forever he could see
Admirably able to withstand
The gutsy gusts
Their scattering
so purposeful
Like Faeries dresses
Backwards forwards
Flattering

Gathering and feathering
Conjuring and weathering
Nectaries of gold and ermine white
Lemon honey saffron sallow
Tonal qualities of aloe
Verdancy and greenery
Olivine and jade
Offering moral certainty
spring’s clarion cascade.
