“ Bubby” the three legged cat

A three legged cat
Introduced himself
To a Man called Boyd
Who cared
He named him “Bubby”
And fed him
And inside was overjoyed
But “Bubby” had his own ideas
And always left when he
Was ready, obviously preferred the outside
And really being free

Boyd was one kind gentleman
Who wanted him to stay
And fed him anytime he came
To pass the time of day
“bubby” appeared comfortable
But left because he could
No matter how bad the weather was
At the right time he just would

Then 2017 Boyd he sadly died
But told his friends and neighbours
Possibly “Bubby” relied
A kind of convivial stop over
On his journeys where
But after Boyd died he never came
Though food was left but he
Never came and so never touched the food
Extraordinarily

Then the house was up for sale
And a lady who didn’t care
For cats at all but a chap called Ray
Convinced her perhaps to share
A bowl of food if he came by
Having told her the tale
And on the ninth year
He returned and the lady
Dudnt fail
He was in the kitchen
And she then called Ray

“Bubby” looked the worse for wear
Old and very lean
His big green eyes were weaker
He was ready at the scene
Was Not to go away again
And he now has a lovely hearth
And a fireside in which to lay
And follow his forever path

He purrs when he goes to sleep
And when he wakes up too
Clearly he is happy
But his freedom he loved too
But now in peace and tranquility
Its what he wants to do
He has had his years of excitement
On his travels it was true
Visiting his stopovers
With those who showed they care
But now his body aching
He was so aware
A carefree laid back life was more
The life he wanted now
He found his own euphoria
And we all know now how

It feel to be loved and cared for
When we are growing old
But still have most of our faculties
And on a place are sold
What a happy story
For our three legged friend
The adventurer the crusader
A story without end
