Mucha

He was born on a Tuesday
The fourteenth of July
In the year 1860
A Leo and high
In the echalons really
Of the art nouveau
From the Austrian Empire
Was where he did grow
Up, he was quick to learn and to draw
His mother hung a pencil
His sketches they were raw
But he almost Could draw
Before he could walk
Pencil mostly but also chalk

Alphonse his christian name
A White metal monkey was he
He did his own thing
And, so cleverly
A certain Count Egon
Noticed his art
And helped him
In Munich to study
From The heart
Theatrical posters
Became his forte
Of Sarah Bernhardt
A lass of that day

Stylistic patterns
water colour and ink
A good graphic artist
Who really did think
He was very discerning
Refined one might say
Showing good taste
In his beautiful way
A great eye for detail
With a keen peace of mind
A king in his jungle
Left nothing behind

One of his posters
Was found in a cottage
up in the attic
Where spiders had been
Keenly appreciating
The fine lady
Who shone through the darkness
From whence she did lean

An ovate who coincidentally
Had sported a mirror
By Mucha the artist supreme
Struck by the picture
How was it possible
Quietly meditating
She noted its gleam

She left it to rest
From the light and the eyes
Of others sequestered
To just realise
A sort of reward in so many ways
A heavenly host
Protection perhaps
An aura of peace
Whose spirit displays
