Sunset

Sunset just happened
Peach melba in blue
Spread over tunnel fields
Sunlight peeping through
Pursuing the ethereal
Into slate grey
What my eyes see
At the end of today
A gentle breeze
As the Jasmine flowers show
The Copper Beech rocking
The Rosemary low
THe Cherry protesting
It’s leaves hanging there
And all of this beauty
Alone I can share

Peach has disappeared
The sun is now
Losing its ardour
One wonders how
All of that fire
Is lost in the grey
And darkness creeps in
At the end of the day
Not quite nine thirty
The drama it came
And it’s gone in a wink of an eye
Just the same
