George Floyd

A wave of sadness  frustration
 and  threat
an African American arrested
 and met
with a painful and frustrating
end to his life
Arrested and handcuffed
and kneeled on,   his strife
 was audible clearly
pleading that they
the four police officers
belp him that day
 but  one of them kneeled
on his neck  and  all heard
him saying he couldn’t breathe
That’s what  occurred

4 white police officers
one African, American  man
who was unarmed
and how it did pan
out on the ground
Excess force was applied
and George  tragically
was killed in cold blood
That denied
he apparently tried to use
a false cheque to
pay
off  a bill
And  the shop Had seen through it
right away
and called the cops
and they came and we saw
the drama play
Out with George face down on the floor
he had cried out  more than once
but they didn’t cease
they just  took no notice
they would not release
their grip on his neck
tbey were nasty and cruel
and he died there  frustratingly
Which  sadly did fuel

 protests from bystanders
and subsequently
all had  faced lock down
and the valve  forcibly
was wrenched off
and sparks flew
and
we could see
rampaging mobs
in the streets tragically
we then  heard the four officers
were being let go
Derek  Chauvin  who kneeled on his neck
he did know
that  he now was under arrest
and  that he
might face murder charges
so dramatically

The  incident  Took on
great drama  And  pain
crowds spilled onto the street
an obnoxious refrain
some of the most   peaceful
Then  what we saw
was tear gas and  Ramped up
response  and what’s more
 great agitation
destructively
they lit fires
and smashed  windows
In such vile  villainy
some went up on the freeway
to protest and they
some of theM much  quieter
when arrested did say
they had not come to loot
or to aggressively  be
and when arrested
were convivial as most could see
its was  disobedience
not violence in fact
humanity kicked in
many did react
in a pragmatic fashion
 believing that they
all needed love
at the end of the day.

but across many cities
responses were rough
banks being burned to the ground
things were tough
it became racial the frustration we saw
which ignited the tinder
and the aggression was raw
then we heard none of the officers would
 Be charged
And for certain that’s wasn’t good
And the mood how it changed
significantly
defeatism arose
ominously

and since then its been war on the streets
CHASE BANK  burned down UNION too
throughout the town
all of  the shops were Either looted or  burned
front windows  smashed
it really  had  turned
 incredibly nasty
fjres everywhere
shops looted mercilessly
no one seemed  to care
antagonism and  antipathy
servile and mean
was the hostility.

and they are still looting
car loads of stuff
seemingly people  just can’t steal enough
the mood it has changed
so much anger about
Loathing and intolerance
that’s what’s it’s about.

Tbis   poor man’s death
ignited  a fuse
resentment  exploded
it wasn’t  good news
people so petulant
snarling and growling
detesting the coppers
so many howling
an infernal foul
wretched and wrong
that right at this juncture
it didn’t belong
