Alban Hefin

Our eyes perceive such light
from nature’s brush now really  everywhere
the cherry green,
the Copper Beech
resplendent and  it be a lair
of  florid fiery, fevered fashion
fuller flushingly  fulfilled
gnarled it be this Cherry Tree
its  sweet cool fruits
The planter thrilled
fruits a bobbing in the breeze
pendulous each leafy sign
a rustling cerise  sanguine song
Hanging almost olivine
the splendour  of the sun
a beaming edifice  the goddess crowned
the King of Summer smiling always   Cheek to jowel
and homeward bound.

the freshest cleanest  colours
a time when Druids long ago
their megaliths of such a size
Aligned no doubt  To the sunrise
on this day of days
Which was  about
the maximum light and clarity
brightness vivid brilliance
resplendent effulgent  intensity
 Engulfing sense and shining
the Grand old Oak the Celtic  tree
each leafy bower bent on the hour
a true and significant place to be
a celebration a  sentinel
Behold the pigmentation well
highly coloured highly stated
emphatic and  yet  seldom sated
soft hued yet  it be unaided
above aloft and so paraded
the light of Summer
everywhere
fragrant  splendour
all can share.
the corvid virus
dastardly
sprung its evil
masterfully

the longest day
the bluest sky
the Rollright stones
and My reason why
in light refrain
I ponder long
Inside my heart
i sing my song
 For the place  I  love
and I dare to say
I Love to be there
On my dying day
And beyond
within the wood I be
at the Rollrights
for an eternity,
