Honeysuckle

Who is that Honeysuckle
My enduring friend?
who follows generations
singularly to lend
cohesiveness and hardness
and it’s tenderness to be
compliant  yet defiant
In Its adaptability

curiously it sends  its
bio energy
across  the many life times
to smother and to
share
it’s fragrant  blossoms
In the wind
twining from right to left
its forces underpinned

its leaves in pairs
and stalkless
otherwise bereft
creates those scarlet berries
a restorative we see
nectar  at its  base
An offering to each  Bee

a way of  intoxication
to reward  each soulful flight
masculine and jupiter
and the earth becomes
Its light

Lonicer he knew its worth
the botanist
of long ago
who really lent his name
Which  has  become
An Integral part
of the woodbine’s claim to
Fame
.
Lonicera spp.
