Terrible cruelty to tigers in FLORIDA

The incautiousness and needlessness
Of making tigers humanised
Temerity and presumption
Our arrogance should be criticised
For zoos and films and entertainment
Tigers are a dangerous act
Rapidly wasted in the wild
And that is one mean fact

Roadside zoos in Florida
A HELL on earth alas
They are really vulnerable
And it’s so very crass
Of those of us who denigrate
The wildness in their soul
And try to entertain with them
With chains and with control

Our cruelty is awful
Our understanding less
Than humane our indiscretions
How can we redress
The wonders of creation
These marvellous living souls
Being snatched And beaten up
To live within controls

Chains around their neck so tight
They cannot walk at all
Cubs removed from their mothers
Their god given school
Of learning stolen dubiously
To experience torture and
To suffer stress and pain from it
Right across the land

Dade City seems to be a place
Where wild tigers get the boot
The authorities seem improper
Kept in disrepute
No respect whatsoever
Tortured night and day
Where is our humility
Why can’t we find a way

We support those places
The films the zoos why we
let them get away with shit
Why does it have to be
Our brashness and our blatancy
Watching wild souls die
Chained so tightly around their necks
The contempt we do belie

Their freedom to be tigers
Chained up in this way
So we can earn from stupid tourists
Who assist and will not say
Why are they being so damn cruel
No they go along
With torture and with shortening lives
That really do belong

In jungles in the suderabans
In India far Way
Not in these mean vile places
Where the living soon decay
The antipathy And loathing
The evil of new man
Whose heart is wizened Like his brain
Straight out of some can.
