Resolute yes resolute is she
In the world of opera
Uncompromisingly
Well versed in the classics
Purposeful and strong
She blossoms with her melodies
Into delightful song
Indefatigability
A self determination
A staying power
An hour on hour
She is a celebration

Of breath of voice
Of fortitude
Her unflagging efforts do
Bring the arias to life
So anyone can view
Can feel the resonant vibrancy
The soulful and the clear
The hours and hours of practice
A source of light and cheer

And in this lockdown era
What does a song bird do
She needs to sing for goodness sake
Open her hearts that’s true
The ability was hard won
And now she needs to be
Supported never thwarted
By her liberty to free

The intensity and brightness
That is the soprano, she
This songbird in a silent hall
What is she to be
meditative and reflective
No she Must be free
To open up her wings
And fly
For she my dears
Is free

I don’t know how you found me
But the joy is all mine
