Cashmere

259 grams of hair per goat
I understand
And so a cashmere jumper
Takes six GOATS
Done by hand
Metal combs and brute strength
And tugging at the hair
Until they bleed
Imagine that
And be glad you are not there

These are noble creatures
An ancestry thats long
Sure footed in the mountains
But suffering which is wrong
The unconcern we show them
Our ignorance as well
Wearing the hair of another
And driving them into hell

Their timidity takes over
It’s cynical that we
Want our cashmere clothing
Their despair though we don’t see
We don’t hear them crying
Our tastelessness means we
Are really very crass
With our vulgarity

Everyone is wounded
They undergo such pain
They do become infected
And it can drive them insane
We need to educate ourselves
And by so doing see
That animals who were given hair
Should keep it actually

CHINA AND MONGOLIA NEED TO BE MORE CARING
