NEMO

Hit by train
A terrible shock
Trauma apparent
A horrible knock
An injured head
An injured lung
Crawling into the scrub
And just lay among

The weeds and stones
Around the track
Awaiting death
There seemed no way back
Observing the soulful
Feeling his pain
Brought tears to our eyes
Again and again

Rogues and larrikins
Seemingly
Saw and added
To his purgatory
Kicked the dust
And left him be
In every sense
In agony

At last an angel
Came along
With a blanket
Clearly far from wrong
The hospital was then to where
Nemo was taken
For extra care

A filthy state
An ugly scar
His mouth was bleeding
Really we are
Humbled by actually what we see
And how this soul
Has had to be

Suffering for who knows how long
Breathing difficulties
Far from strong
Washed and shaved
Sedated too
A chest tube was the op to do

Sutured his gums
Clearly sore
So much pain
So much gore
But out of it sadly
The shock and awe
Scant respect
Received before

Very courageous
Despite the pain
And the neglect
So little to gain
But slowly we see
With love and care
How miracles we all can share

Kisses tail wagging
Circling he
Get kisses from girls and boys
He be getting better
Feeling well
Heaven is now
Before was hell

Animal aid unlimited they
Have all the hours in
Every day to give to share to love to be
Creating their miracles
evidently

No holds back
Each to his own
Cuddles and kisses
All home grown
What we see
Is veneration
Reverential celebration
