Leslie Hore-Belisha

In 1934 on certain crossings
On the road
Amber coloured globe lights
Atop a black and white pole
The road surface was studded
And later painted black and white
And so the Zebra crossing it was of born
And Took the role

The minister of transport
The man who introduced
These crossings his name Belisha
And they were there to boost
Night time realization
The Belisha beacon they
Named after the minister
Who actually passed away
In 1957 born in 1893
And these crossings
are now common
And do
actually
Give the people
Rights over the vehicle
And so
People do feel safer on them
As we all now know

Used in Australia and NEw Zeland
And Liberia and other countries
