“Selfies”

The hordes of egotistics
That Sadly now are found
Tourists mostly, idiots
Who curiously astound
Those of us who are caring
By brandishing their lens
And who interfere with animals
The message that it sends

Is wholly just how selfish
So many have become
Going where they shouldnt be
And, we do see some
Walking into danger
And causing babies harm
Approaching the vulnerable
With anything but calm

Climbing over fences
And guard rails here we see
In La Jolle California
Seals who patently
Are caring for their babies
Nurturing them all day
And along they come with their selfie sticks
Bringing with them dismay

They do not possess a conscience
Just a bloody great arrogant streak
Aiding and abetting
All they do is seek
The closest and the most dangerous shots
With no burden of guilt
Tresspassing and frightening
And their blood could be spilt

Its not outside the realms
Of possibility but they
Are as ignorant as the day is long
This is the new way
Its digital its easy
Its self-seeking Its their thing
Trying to get the closest shot
And then trying to wing

The same old chestnut disrespect
So few have it these days
Desecration is everywhere
Its outrageous but it plays
Into the unworthiness and contempt
That does abound
And They have no obligation
To observe rules I have found

Make it a crime punishable
With a six month stay in prison
