Iceland 120 and 121

The whale watchers
had paid their dues
Heading out
amongst the blues
A choppy scene
and pale blue sky
Everybody wondering why
They were able
to be there today
On the sea
so far away
From where they lived
all hopefully
Wanting to see
a whale and be

Able to feel
its energy
Its massive tail
and great body
Coming up
from the depths below
Really just
to say Hello
And exhale and breathe
And then go back
To its darkly depths
to just back track

Cameras clicking
his big eye
Saw them and ofcourse
did sigh
As a great harpoon
he felt it hit
And explode in troughs
of agony it
Deep Into his flesh
his eyes were lit
Up with expression
and awful pain
As his blood gushed upwards
And then did drain

life flashed before him
Each memory
Came and was gone
All he could see
And then no more
This greatful soul
Was drawing his last breaths
His role

A cry went up from the whaling men
From the whaler watchers
Numbering ten
Winching his bulk to the side to drag
Back to the dock a kind of flag
For the watchers to see
How Iceland can feel
It is right to watch
And when they reveal
Themselves
To slaughter them
One by one
Two fin whales
What had they done

They came to allow
The watchers to be
thrilled by their size

But dead now they be .
