A massive bolt of lightning
And the great bridge it gave way
Over the Polcevera river

Cars and trucks came crashing down
An apocalyptic feat

All this reinforced concrete
The A10 motorway
Built in 1960
On a wretched day
They were queuing
At that moment
When the great long piece gave way
And hurtled downwards crushingly
Where cars and bodies lay
