ANNE15

There was a kind of promise
And honour seemed to me
The declared intention
Almost a guarantee
I would have companions
Not nubian goats
But they
Said there would be elephants
There to share my day

So to find no other ele’s
Their oath apparently
Blown away
Like an Autumn wind
And it a liablity
For me has been so stressful
The undertaking there
To have been made
And then withdrawn
Which gave me such despair

Contracts with us animals
Are hearsay thats for sure
It really got my pecker up
Which has been down on the floor
Since that became a pipe dream
And I’ve been left alone
Infringing on my wishes
Well really I was thrown

And there hasnt been a formula
No balance struck for me
And then I heard about elephant haven
With all its greenery
Part of the Massif Central
A really rural place
Famous for Beef Farming
And French Oaks
At a pace

Slower than at Longleat
Committed yes to try
To look after and to love
ELephants and why
Those who had suffered circus
The trauma and the pain
HAute Vienne
A lovely place
Known as Nouvelle Aquitaine

There are ofcourse excuses
Depriving me of care
I would love to end my days
Walking in that clean sweet air
If they would only transfer me
And let me retire
To this lovely hamlet
Where I could regain some fire

I know Sophie and Tony
Are the people there
And they know Brigitte Bardot
And as people they are fair
Its an inspirational dreamy place
With ardour by the tonne
I dream about it every night
when each day is done
