Pillows of cloud
In an azure blue sky
White arctic wolves
Their mission to ply
Living in starkness
A wilderness where
Instincts play heavily
To everyone there
Subsistence is difficult
Out in the wild
Enduring the hardships
Caring for each child
Its character building
Of that I feel sure
Working and dealing with
What is Natural Law
Their tough constitution
Ofcourse gets them through
Its the nuts and the bolts
Its what they must do
These apex predators
Implicitly must
Give voice to their life path
And just go for bust
It is really hard
And the pertinent course
Is to run with the wind
And to eat from the source
To link up with others
And be on the ball
To be drilled and aligned
To every call
The primeordial mind
With its judgement of Saul
To always initiate
And as a rule
Just be inventive be genuine too
This is what mother wolves
All have to do
The family bond
It is earned As we see
Each chain of events
They embrace and they be
Recalling sncestors
Harbingers they
Use their heightened senses
For that is their way
Having five little cubs
One must focus and try
To demonstrate care
Which is really why
Mother wolves can and have to apply
Her rule of law
So they all can get by
But theres always one
Who lags and gets lost
An oddball or weirdo
And then theres a cost
Left in the wilderness
Just on their own
Perhaps just defiant
But now all alone
The pack have moved on
Miles eaten away
Mother may howl
Trying to pay
Attention to listeneing
If she can hear
The cry of her baby
Now in her ear
What can she do
Let instinct rule
She must just go and find
Her baby thats all
Using her scent
And her senses she tries
To retrace her steps
And to realise
He will feel abandoned
Forsaken maybe
He has a quiet howl
Loud to him but it be
Drowned out by the wind
And the miles now apart
She must follow her nose
And go with her heart
It feels an eternity
Boundless untold
The winds getting up
As is the cold
There is hail in the offing
The plague in the air
That hurts when it hits
Almost everywhere
Endurance and stamina
No not at all
The babies fragility
Most as a rule
Will be feeling unsettled
And shocked to their core
She just has to find him
That is for sure
The little cub desperate
Sets off to see
A wandering minstrel
So far off key
His miniscule howl
With so little power
Despite all his energy
Hour after hour
He remains unsuccessful
And she too
Such vulnerability
What can he do
But howl ever louder
And hope his mama
Comes to his rescue
From however far
The vastness the infinite
Space up and down
Its no mans land
Far from a town
Unsettled and desolate
A godforsaken place
Where the heart and the mind
Tire with every pace
And then on the top of a hillock
She hears
Her baby wailing
His frantic fears
Beginning to fail him
In his sweet bubble he
is at his wits end
And then he does see
Her once again together they be
And she must get back to the pack
Which is key
His short little legs
Like a gatling gun
Backwards and forwards
Its a long run
Keeping up with his mother
And soon he can see
The pack all his brothers and sisters
They be
Out on the ridge
With his papa
The family are one again
yes Thats what they are.
