Daffodils

Cloaks of vernal chlorophyll
From my friend the daffodil
Who emerges with such meaning
To open up in Spring
Each bloom as a rule
Gives me its sweet call
And with utter harmony
Its honesty does sing

a consensus of souls
Now Defying all
The recent snow
The angry wind
That tried to overhaul
Their truly amazing
And splended colours
Uncovering such will
Exposing what is joyfulness
As their pollen
They do spill

They manifest such candour
In unison each day
A lustre of light forgiving
Mustard and sallow
Each spray
Old gold and amber
Brimstone and mellow
A glimpse of pure sulphur
And saffron yellow

Dancing through Spring
Exposing their all
Flowers of the fae
Along the old crumbling wall
Able to rock
And Able to roll
Like songsters
Melodically giving us soul

Around the cherry
Whose gnarled roots
Imbibe
The chords of creation
Inspiring our tribe
The dance of the tranquils
Affirming in me
An emphatic wisdom
Of true constancy

Bound up in conviction
Commanding their place
Each significant smile
Demanding the chase
Of A poetic eye
A creative recall
Asking us why
They are loved by us all
