Macropods and their time on earth

Supposedly protected
from non aboriginal hunting
The law
which law is that ?
with lobbyists whose big gobs
Only a small number
are hunted by the hunters
Red males
eastern greys
and the common wallaroo
We all know that the Meat Trade
Is as corrupt as it ever was
The shooters dont just shoot big males
They are shooting females too

Actually, breaking the law
That is what laws are for
Out there in the bush at night
No one fucking cares
If you are a mother carrying joeys and
A pinky
Looking for the grass you need
Be sure the shooters will
Aim their bloody rifles and smash
Your jaws or injure you
Not everyones a head shot
Probably very few.

They talk up codes of practice
But it isnt regulated
In the bush alone its dark
And no one is about
Only mobs of kangaroo’s
Foraging for their families
Imagine the desperation of it
Please be in no doubt

Talk up all the advantages
Of eating kangaroo meat
Its wild and its organic
And its regulated by
Grey suits tucked up in their beds
Who couldnt care a monkeys
And reality shows for those who care
That far too many die

These shooters are then butchering
The mothers and the babies
Creation was the miracle wasted so that they
Can have their extra money
And then just murder more of them
Feet chopped off tails chopped off
Guts spread bloody everywhere
Terrible sanitation
E coli Be aware
And other vile bacteria
Spread around the place a bit
Off the back of trucks
With all that dust and dirt about
Australia now bow your heads
Its such a dirty business
And on iconic kangaroos
Which I think, is worth a shout

We are here to help the victims
The wild souls of the outback
angels of creation
With their miracles galore
Able to withstand the heat
And all the degradation
They are mobile teachers
Home schooled joeys never meat

They lay down the environments
Created to be wild ones
Not found really anywhere else
Iconic so to say
Qantas has them on their wings
The world at large respects that fact
But the meat trade couldnt care a less
They just kill them anyway.
