There was a time when bears like me
Were hunted very regularly
Now the ice is melting fast
It feels the die for me is cast
Seals no longer come to lie
For me no reason to ask why
Its just so many humans feel
We are surplus to their meal
We are blamed for the lack of fish
If its not cooked in their dish
We wild ones our creative flair
Is best for you when we are not there
Seen as competition for
The bloody buman carnivore
Extinction it is coming Why?
I raid the bins to see if I
Can find a morsal but certainly
Only foam which cannot be
A diet for a Polar bear
Who is now losing all his hair
Nothingness and meagreness
A token to the extra stress
So many phantoms around about
Ethereal our fragile out
Imaginary and characterless
I shall pass away and want for less
Seen as inferior seen as odd
Inadequate I have no god
To beckon in my time if woe
I feel I do not want to go
I had a superiority
A kind if seniority
But now I have to realise
The human hunter gets his prize
I do not have a supporting role
My lowliness is some ice hole
Outshone and outclassed by a digital man
Play second fiddle for thats the plan
Obscurity descend and be
Subordinate to the likes of thee
My bones they hurt, my stomach too
Chaos reigns such turmoil, who?
Will come to feed me the end feels nigh
I look up straight into the sky
The bitter end my destiny
Is coming closer finally
Infinity a boundless mass
Struggling through the great morass
Without a number endurance feels
Liking biding its time till it reveals
An evanescence a fragility
Just a brief span left to try and see
A fleeting shoal a seal or two
Will they sacrifice for you
You overfish your by-catch hurts
Perseverance comes in spurts
Contamination is everywhere
The seals are dying how they despair
The unsustainable problem you
You perpetuate yes you do
Greed and power and mightiness
Attributed to vigourousness
Our vulnerability takes away
The exhaustion of each coming day
Toothless hairless deposed alas
Our world is barren an exhausted mass
How I hobble in so much pain
So unsteady it be the bane
Of my sad life, my frailty
Down to my inactivity
Debilitated sapped and low
Disabled by the powers who know
If not the the wilds then its the zoo
Where we are neutralized and made to do
Where no wild soul would want to be
On its last legs for all to see
And so this camera looked at me
I tried to hide I am a refugee
Dislodged from home and in exile
Evicted really as if on trial
For eating fish that humans need
In no mansland I can’t succeed
Can I? all the best is yours
Your tv chefs take the applause
The michelin stars are everywhere
Fish is plentiful but to share
The wilderness with the likes of you
We aboriginies through and through
Dont get a look in not anymore
Standing on the final shore
We watch you waste deface pollute
Harpoon gill nets even shoot
What chance have we us polar bears
No chance and sadly no one cares.
