Convallaria majalis or Lily of the valley

Plant it at yule
And then it will be
ready at Beltaine
On your altar to see
Its white floral bells
Out of sheaths of dark green
It has a sweet perfume
And enjoys a damp scene

Its a magickal soul
For the head and the heart
Ruled by air extends a peacefulness
Around where
It grows
It can be invasive
But is lovely in Spring
Perhaps around a bush
It will certainly bring

A nice splash of colour
Its berries beware
They are pretty toxic
But its hard to compare
Such a sweet soul
With its magickal notes
Its flowers dried and ground
Makes a snuff that just coats
Inside your nostrils
To dampen the pain
Of headache
Brought on by weakness and strain

The fae seem drawn to it
In woods you might see
Or hear its sweet peeling
Its bells Seemingly
Convallaria majalis
“A valley in May”
Its a beautiful plant
That blows me away

But remember its poisonous
And so you will need
Always to wear gloves
When you tend it, indeed
Young children and pets
Are best kept well away
From this delicate lily
That blossoms in May
