The great migration

Fresh water and green grass
To taste
the verdure of the day
Its what commands respect in Wilderbeest
Whose real dismay
The herds emaciated from the numbers
Starving where
The need and thrust
Is to travel
through the African dust
To share

They feel this last great challenge
Is the mighty Mara and they
Must leap and swim across it to the
Green fields o’re the way
The vultures know the score
As well and the giant croc’s who wait
Also feeling very hungry
But all looking sedate
They know deep in their souls
That some will weaken at the fight
And will break their backs and limbs
And just get washed away in flight

Wildebeest and zebras converge
Their stress we see
All have the realization
And the possibility
Of fording this great river
Essentially to find
That Paradise that each one wants
and has now locked
In their mind

That pre existing dream
The sun the sky the green
What is substantiality
Its where they all have been
Before its really with them
They have to act as one
This massive herd of thousands
When the day is done

The phenomenol physical vista
The lifes blood of them all
Their backbones and their marrow
And the constitution call
One leaps another joins him
So it is underway
The crashing dashing smashing
Of the hooves and horns that say

Hundreds thousands falling
And swimming for their lives
Each emaciated from the lack of food
The dives
Break their backs
Bewildered animals many now who be
Lifeless by the time they hit the water
Mercilessly

Like thunder hooves a thrashing
As the crocodiles move in
Vultures watching on the opposite bank
Heads all a spin
The army now are swimming
The current holding sways
As younger animals caught up in the melee
Pass their phase

Eyes bulging out of their sockets
Fear is swollen to
Such a huge crescendo what is it now they do
Their union is broken
They are being washed away
All of them together
Gone!
nothing more to say

That Panic was electric
In the ascendancy
The race now on to transcend the fight
And hope to be
No body seen as a friend
Its fight like hell to free
Each is on their own course
Each now has to be
None of them can be denied
Their only course of action
Now to reach the other side

Surpassing all this hellish stuff
This blood lust That does flow
Fighting back the collective angst
That clearly now does grow
A crescendo into storming
Each raising its game
Advancing in a frantic flood
Of each making their claim

And all the while big eyes are watching
The predators on fire
Who cant wait to leap and tear a’sunder
The bodies all so dire
And still more come
And still more leap
And still more fall and they
Realise their injuries
And that today is not their day

The great clash the convergence
The assembly of souls
Compacted now by circumstance
Each hopeful that their goals
Thrown together
Embracing pain
Shoulder to shoulder
They will gain

The upper hand
They have to now
Flailing legs
This is how
It has to be fight the good fight
Wedge and clinch
And clamp and bite

Shackle fettle chain and hoop
Chaos as the hungry swoop
Crushing jaws and blood lust flow
Disharmony
As well we know
Scramble twist and share away
In the turmoil of the day
Rumpus rough and tumble gang
Disarranged ready to hang
Some have already made dry land
Its slippery though we understand

Sliding back into the water
A foretaste of the coming slaughter
The end is nigh
The finality
And therefore their destiny
Like Armageddon
Reigns supreme
The leaders fight to make
Their dream

There are victims
Hunched and broken
They will be the
Croc’s new token
But many see the struggle and
Have actually infact made land

The green grass beckons
the water too
The multitude has made it through
To the sulight and the dream
Each felt
Clearly their cards had been dealt
The colossal struggle
They all made out
Their future now was in no doubt

The womb of time had set its course
They had been a frightful force
A flush of youth they all had come
Through it hearts beating like a drum
The vulnerability they all shared
They had together upped and dared
Weakness debility staying power
Survivability on the hour

The manifestation
The unfolding light
Grassy meadows
Within their sight
Heaven on earth
It was all here
An exhuberance
Free of fear
A great outpouring
Of fluency
Of copious vigour and majesty.
