To be a valued member
Of a family and their distress
Is eected to fight off
Would be rogues
And put up with your stress

That chain is separating
The right of freedom for
A soul who wants to be your friend
Whose stationed by your door
Out there in all weathers
Forgotten lost to awe
No water left when it gets hot
And its shelter you ignore

It gets wet in the wintry rain
Shivering like mad
And you say that watching people
Abusing animals makes you mad
Think again and go and fetch
Your friend that wants to be
With you sitting by the fire
Part of your family
