Stranglehold

Bayer the great German corporate
Has swallowed up Monsanto who
Has put the fear up the farmers it’s clear
And this marriage well what do we do
The full moon sees these monsters joining
Forces to strengthen their cause
The power they will have at the end of the day
Though the shareholders hear the applause

Farmers will shake in their boots I believe
As The better solutions appear
And integration is what it’s about
But farmers will surely now fear
The stranglehold as it will tighten
The small farm will falter and close
This spells the end of the specialist growers
And anyone really that knows

Biotechnology Frankenstein monsters
Arrogance beyond the realms of today
This is insanity the starkest depravity
As the day darkens we say
The regulations on organic growing
And heritage seeds they will be
Lost in a fog of genetic mutations
This partnership All can see

One would hope that the regulatory bodies
Will disallow this massive knot
This aquisition is massive
It’s really too big for the pot
Chemistry and data science
biotechnology too
Animals health and crop science
Pharmaceuticals what can we do

This an explosive creation
Like an allergy working away
Causing ones breathing to question the heart
As the body goes into decay
The seeds and the soil and the energy
The water the sunshine and all
Monsanto and Bayer
Who is the soothsayer?
As Farms now will go to the wall
