Spike Thompson

Spike Thompson he has left me
Nineteen pounds of joy
My delightful one and only
Lovely ginger boy
16 years of happiness
With a lady we all know
And now he’s at the rainbow bridge
Where the crystal waters flow

His life with me was memorable
He was my special friend
We shared a lot of things together
Right up till the end
In my arms he died his eyes closed
He drifted away
His temperament was perfect
In every single way

I called him,Spike Thompson
His spontaneity
He was such an effusive character
Almost a part of me
He was gushing he was eager
And a bit hot headed too
But absorbing and impressive
In what he liked to do

When sick and with
his seizures
I knew that he knew I
Was always close to feeling
What he felt and that was why
Losing him in many ways
Was a decision I had to make
For in his eyes I saw the light
We both knew give and take

He gave me so much pleasure
And he taught me so much too
He loved to sleep as most cats do
He was beautiful all through
He had so much affection
And left so much in me
His manner and his thoughtfulness
And was such a visionary

I learned a great deal from him
His conviction and his support
He had his cat like fantasies
But you know I always thought
His courage was undaunted
With me he had no fear
My knight in shining armour
When he did appear

Dear Lynn Spike is and will always be
Close to your heart
