Elvis

He went into the toilet
Clearly alone
A man with a mission
And a beautiful tone
Just 42 years of age
His whole entourage
Were kind of Around him
But his camouflage

Was his truest addiction
The downers he took
The stress he was under
There just was no hook
Left he could cling too
Ginger was outside
He just fell off the toilet
And he simply died

The whole Memphis mafia gang
Were around
When he closed his eyes
When Ginger found
The 16th of August
When the world waved goodbye
To an all
Round performer
And real special guy

He had become a cash cow
For the colonel to be
He had financial worries
And now he was free
Prescription drugs
Took Elvis away
He said that he needed them
Every day

In the past he had everything
Women and song
He could do what he wanted
But of course that was wrong
He had got on that bandwagon
Rolling Away
And it just controlled him
More so every day

As his health went down hill
His friends they could see
It all going pear shaped
But so strong was he
When you are close to a friend
With the mood swings of hell
You can’t really ascertain
Really how well
Or not
In their psyche
And deep in their soul
And Elvis was clearly
Now not in control

When he died I am sure
Would have liked Ginger there
She was just outside
That didn’t seem fair
But he couldn’t shout
The sickle cut through
His life force was gone
Nothing he could do
