Wolverines

Behold there is a phantom
That survives on its wildness
It loves the deep snow
Its a sociable brute
Humans are good at
Referring to Devils
And demons and such like
Blackening characters
But at its root

Is a marvellously caring
Mother all sharing
Sociable animals
Raring to go
They can climb like the clappers
And run at all flappers
More than 20 miles a day
They really know

Very intelligent
They can get to grips with things
Very affectionate
And very tough
A genuine carnivore
Feared by so many
They are self reliant
There is never enough

They will go for a goat
A much heavier animal
And bring it down and eat every bit
Grinding the bones for the oils
They are clever
Nothing is wasted
They work at being fit

They eat what they should eat
They exercise often
Running up inclines
They hardly ever slow
In the Glacier National Park
Of Montana
Survival is theres
Through the wind and the snow

Their secretive world
Is safe far from humans
See humans and hide
Its the best course to take
Humans are hunters ignorant idiots
Ready to target for nobody’s sake

But their own,they are guilty
Of changing the outcome
Destroying habitats
Laid down before
Balance is set by the mother of mothers
Man comes along
And wisdom does ignore

The wolverine runs he’s the avalanche
Mammal
He has a powerful nose and can detect
Animals buried in snow 20 foot drifts
A very big heart for a such a small body
His relatives weasels his audacity
Lifts
His demeanour a lot even the grizzly
Might fight shy of him
Thats what they are like
Like the wolf their reputation does go before
Them
When they go for the kill
Its a terrible strike

All the gristle and bone
Skin and horn
Will be eaten
Ground up, the oils nothing
Is Left to waste
They know what to do
To survive in the wilderness
And they remain true
Which has to be faced

Make sensational films
Call them Devil beast animals
create reputations
That throw up much fear
Demons of the North
Come forth
with your great fangs
So you shake in your boots
If one does appear

But always remember
Its true to itself
It lives where its put
And it eats what is there
What we have made of it
Is down to our ignorance
Down to our foolishness
And our despair

Its pays to be secretive
Thats a good reason
Stay off the tracks where
The human souls go
Be what you are and do
What you are doing
With all that instinct
Stay in the flow

We can learn much from the wilderness
People
Left to their own guile and intelligence they
Take on vile climates and just push on through it
And they always look healthier
Yes every day
