Their love of the wild
Sees babies defiled
Torn from their mothers
Whose reconciled
To that basic felony
That treasured care
That bond and that fondness
And the real love out there
Petting the babies
A new trading ploy
Brings much agitation
Without any joy
For the precious lion cubs
Who know they adore
Their mother but these
Volunteers
are unsure
In real time this travesty
Exists and we know
Its the warped world of canned hunting
That now does grow
Like a festering cancer
Affecting us all
And to ask these young students
To answer the call
Come at their own expense
And work for free
And be with the cubs
Be their destiny
Wildness is lost
Instinctively they
Lose out on true love
Day after day
Pawed about picked up
And gradually they
Being so young
They just lose their way
Then its the cages
Where arrogance rules
Naivety follows
Fools teaching fools
The rules being broken
The naturalness lost
All they see are humans
Life for them has tossed
What is a new paradigm
Into their world
Lost little souls
Rapidly hurled
Into corporate tension
I mention
It here
By trusting the humans
With their in built fear
Leaves them in two minds
They just are not sure
The smell of the wild
Is outside their door
The roar of the mother
The soul of the pride
Evolved out of squalor
The cubs want to hide
Man is a monster
An evil so sick
With The wonderment wild
He proves what a dick
He is and humanity looks on
For they
Know the indifference
he shows everyday
South Africa wakes up
As activists roar
They shout to the heavens
And then shout some more
Making little lions
Afraid of the wild
So they can be harvested
And then defiled
Is a sinful step
Such a disgusting thing
Its loveless and choiceless
And can never bring
Truth to the argument
Its repugnant to say
It can
And the man
Saying that is away
With the proverbial birds
A psychosis alas
Based on corporate wealth
Of the goal to amass
A fortune unthinkingly
Lost as we know
Petting was letting
The malevolence grow
