Ellie, Belly and Jelly
Live in AFRICA
Where abundance is the word
That springs to mind
All three of them are pachyderms
Which is all about their skin
Its very thick but unlike humans
It tends to underpin
Their comfort and realisation
Of the environment where they
Live and are a part of
Every single day
If we are thick skinned
It is thought we are less sensitive perhaps
But the pachyderms have awareness
Though they keep it under wraps
When Flies and biting insects
Like to take up residence and
Burrowing and scratching all about
Its never grand
The sun is always welcome
But in the absence of the trees
It really does get overpowering
With not a hint of breeze
And parasites present their problems
To elephants abroad
And one organic substance
Around now does afford
Protection and it gives them
A smooth finish to the skin
It gets baked on and is cooling too
So in essence its win win
And Ellie Belly and Jelly
Are clearly so aware
Being by the river
There is mud around to share
I have told you of its qualities
And I am sure there are many more
But a mud pack and a mud bath
Helps us when we are feeling sore
Its also a real good protector
Against the hot hot sun
We might have thick skins that is true
But when the day is done
Stuck out in the open
You can get badly burned
So mud again is our saviour
And now all you have learned
Why it is we are happy
To be around today
With all our parents knowledge
Now coming our way
We have big ears to listen
Its very very clear
AFRICA is our favourite place
Anytime of year
