Buddhism and elephants seldom mix

These buddhists should stick to their temples
And leave,the animals be
They clearly have no bloody idea
About it
Thats really if you ask me

Why is it they poke them and hit them
Why don’t they leave them alone
They don’t want to pad about on
Tarmac streets
It just aggravates joints and bone

Look at that mahout he is crazy
Tapping and making him feel
Tense there’s no sense in him being
There where he is so get real

He needs to be with other elephants
Its cruel and unkind to be there
Its an insensibility sadly
That drives a wild soul to despair

And then they don’t know
what they are doing
And obviously
that isn’t fair

He just wants to give him bananas
He’s uneasy around him you see
Its a tedious business mucking about
And so uninspired actually

And Elephants do get bored easily
They need a way out yes they do
Big bulky pachyderms wondering why
They are not somewhere enjoying the view

Monks do not work at remembering
This is the problem they face
The temple really is no sanctuary
It might be for monks and a few hangers on
But Elephants need to be free

They will fret and clearly feel jumpy
They get skittish and nervy for they
Need to be knowing what they are doing
Or they just want to be on their way
