Living close to Nature
Provides those with insight
The practicality of survival
It does not come as a right
It will be earned
Though this will be
A task master for all
The will and the intention
And the desire to fulfil
The earnestness and the eagerness
The ardour of the chase
The staying power
Hour after hour
The undiscouraged pace
What is spontaneity
Makeshift and unrehearsed
Life is about learning
The evil and the cursed
All of it is relevant
When the sod be near
When there is little cover
And really heaps of fear
It takes us all to greater heights
In pursuit of love and care
Its ultimatum promises
A profit all may share
Collectively a blessing
For those who live and play
Out there with an open sky
Exposed both night and day
There can be insufficiency
And meagre rations will
Cause much stress on the family
And stresses then may spill
Into ones economy
And thus we have to be
Up for it and ready
With adaptability
Working on and with the earth
To revive and to restore
To learn to be self sufficient
To give back and explore
All the possibilities
To replant and reclaim
And of course self preservation
A custodian by name
Adversity brings lots of thought
And contemplation streams
Seasoned well and weathered
A preliminary to dreams
Industrious and studious
And persevering too
And making vacant moments
To think perchance to do
To lead to feel the path to take
Not to point but just to be
Able and proficient
Without naivete
Always there are stumbling blocks
Teething troubles do
Leap up in your face a bit
But you must remain true
Seek some symbiosis some collaboration
And
Foster cooperation
For when working the land
The common cause is essential
To hang together well
Finds the seer can mull it over
And often then can sell
The ideas so much later
The philosophy of the now
The procurement of the spirit
The recovery of how
The affection and the friendship
Bolsters the true thought
To be sentient and all embracing
And never overwrought
Listen up the indigenous
Experience it all
In their face the true blown pace
The overpowering call
The enraptured state and the suffering
The tedium the toil
The enchantment that is freedom
Bound tightly in a coil
Of experience and knowledge
Of hopelessness and fear
Of courage and self reliance
Of undauntedness and cheer
Each gasp of admiration
The drama of it all
And The intimacy of knowing
There is sympathy on call
