Peril

This planet is in a parlous state
Both the natural world and ours
Destruction of the forests
Our arrogance now towers
Far above just about everything
Humanity can bow
Down towards the horizon
Asking themselves how

They ever got this far away
From sensibility
How they became so dominant
On the pretext they were free
To just do anything they thought
Would pull them in some dough
The unsavouriness of all of that
All part of the show

Urbanisation covers so much of the green land
The source of life was flattened
No one could understand
The indisputable progress
The flattening of trees
Our natural roots we tore up
And did away with the bee’s

We poisoned every plant and flower
And introduced instead
Vast fields of the gm crops
And they were all but dead
Monsatan were the monsters the corporates
Who tried
To beat the little farmers till
They sunk down and they cried

Till there was only silence
Till every bird had flown
Every insect shot away
And with the wild wind blown
Science it was kidnapped
By the corporate clan of crooks
Who stole from everybody
And cooked all their books
