Elephants have a bad time in the circus
Everything is against them in a way
Miles and miles between cities
Travelling in trucks
Food and water and vets means that they pay
No exercise to speak of kept in a travelling crate
Leg shackles and a limited supply of water
Thats a fate
Worse than death to elephants
Whose need to walk for miles
Need to forage for what they eat
And they need piles and piles
Which doesn’t sit well with circus
Always on the go
Moving across the different States
Its all part of the show
But not for bloody great elephants
Tied up in some shed
then carted in some trailer
Without water which has led
To sunken eyes and depression
And general poor health
On top of this the tricks they do
Providing circus wealth
Off season maybe in a truck
A crate or somewhere small
Its no place for an elephant
It drives them up the wall
They swing their heads
They bang their heads
They get depressed like hell
And if they give a problem
The bull hook serves them well
The circus is not for elephants
Not wild animals at all
If circus is to stay around
Listen the my call
No animals in circus no animals at all
This way it is possible
And this should be the rule
Giving them no water
In case the have a pee
Whilst they are performing
Which they do not want to
See
for it upsets the audience
And has to be washed down
And staff say that won’t do this
Not even the clown
And so they get little water
And have to perform a lot
It cruelty to animals
And no one likes that a lot
How we can still continue
To See wild animals in a ring
Really makes me wonder
Whether we have anything
Left inside our brains these days
And how we sleep at night
We have to wake up and realise
That it just isn’t right
