It ended the war
Thats what it was for
Guilt not from those
Who agreed
This was an option
And thus its adoption
So many people
Would bleed
Their skin would be torn off
Their bodies
Their hair would be scorched off their
Head
Hundreds of thousands
Slaughtered like maggots
Thats where this option
Had led
People aspiring young people
Many had never done wrong
Thousands of children
Innocent souls
The decision they didn’t belong
And thus someone
Took that decision
Not a child not an angel
Who cared
But someone some sad politician
Who looked up at the sky
And just stared
Loaded the bombs told the pilots
Just push that button and go
Wait for the great mushroom cloud to fly hither
Just forget all of them down below
In Hiroshima thousands and thousands
Women and children alive
Vaporised in a crescendo of blood
And Only a few did survive
The great clouds spread everywhere causing
Death and destruction as well
It ended the war but it opened the door
To a new kind of terrible Hell
The nuclear age was upon us
Others would be blown away
Others would melt in the aura of death
Stopping wars that was what they did say
And those of us living believed them
Quietly we hoped it was true
Clearly we wouldn’t have liked it to be
Us down there or may be you
Our loved ones their loved ones
All of those people we knew and respected
As friends
Caught up in that great ball of fire in the sky
And the terrible message it sends
And so we today watch Hiroshima day
And remember all those who were lost
It ended the war but it opened the door
And my goddess how much it has cost
