We must stop this carnage

Confronted with such evil
A sickness does prevail
The ignorance of consumers
A vile and vast travail
A grand and handsome animal
Bares witness and stands tall
As powerful as the day is long
And loved by one and all
30,000 die each year
Cut down in their prime
By human tribes who
Hunt them
For their ivory
They climb into people’s
Psyche
Through the far eastern markets
Where
China and Japan account
For the prominent market share

Consumers though are not aware
Necessarily so
That the elephants die
Providing it
The intellects not there
The consciousness and perception
The science of the mind
Seems Imageless and wanting
That’s what people find

Unthinking unimaginative
So thoughtless in a way
There is a certain apathy
Incurious lets say
We are careless and I attentive
Preoccupied, put out
Neglectful even careless
So much so we doubt

We get the wrong impression
It’s our gullibility
It seems a foregone conclusion
In what is pure bigotry
Rushing to conclusions
Believing we are right
The status symbol rules us
Ivory is the light

And with this light comes
Evil
The poaching bandit class
And where there is lots of money
The kingdom of the arse
Sports itself before us
The murdering brigade
The hunters the black marketeers
The arrogant parade

The frenzy in the market place
The obsession that’s out there
The psychopaths and sociopaths
And of course now just how rare
Ivory is and has been
And will be we are sure
Despite controls
Despite CITES
Still the blood and gore
Faces us in Africa
Decapitation rules
Bloody murdering bandits
Moronic demented fools

That hack the heads of elephants
And leave them in such pain
A wall of woe no where to go
And few in fact who gain
The elephants sight is fairly poor
It’s expectations though
Full of optimism
Wherever it does go

An inventiveness and an insight
And a marvellous memory
Great feelings for each other
That fact is legendary
Exhibiting great power
A great sage in so many ways
And a stubbornness till now

In 1990 Ivory was banned
Across the seas
But still the evil represents
A rather sick disease
A wickedness and a prejudice
A catastrophe of thought
And elephants were being killed
Dramatically for sport

And still the desirability is out there
All can see
The flawlessness and quintessence
It is apparently
Sought after and remarkable
In all it’s precious worth
And so is most desirable
Now on planet Earth

at this rate all these marvellous souls
Will be gone it seems to me
The plaque that is now poaching
Is of low quality
The murderous intent the darkest of displays
Tearing the proud ones heads off
It’s a devilish malaise
