Homeless boy

Abandoned and
Homeless
A 7 year old
On a New York sidewalk
So I ‘m told

Isolated in a
A plastic bag
Orphaned and
Kithless
Just a wet rag
A Shirt
Just So rootless
Unsettled
Disturbed and so hurt
Banished and lost
And covered in dirt

He Has lost touch
With reality
Winter bites
Ones face turns blue
Chilled to the marrow
What to do

Shiver and shake
Whimper and cry
The chill
It’s still the rigour
And why

Niveous
Perishing
Freeze and chatter
God forsaken
and what’s a matter

Forlorn un friended shoes run down
Unmended
Now in New York town

People passing
Anoraks
Scarves and thick coats
On their backs

Bags of shopping
No one cares
No one speaks
And No one shares

Just one dark brother
hello son
Are you alone
What have you done?

I am abandoned
I am sad
I have no mother
I have no dad

I am homeless also
You have my coat
Here’s what you do
Just take this note
Here is some money
Let us see
What we can do
Let’s Have some tea

So many passed by
Didn’t stop
They did not care
As he did flop

Down on the sidewalk
Shivering hard
They ignored him
And his card

Disrespectful
Sarcastic too
Ridiculed him
They took the view

He was a beggar
He was no good
He just seemed
So Misunderstood

Nobody cares in this world
Today
Just one homeless man
And he did say

You have my coat
Let’s share the pain
Come on now brother
Let’s get out of the rain
