Elephants

Elephants have been wandering about
This earth 6 million years
In all that time predation
Clearly brought some tears

But now in this new decade
4 an hour are shot
Murdered for their ivory
And that’s a bloody lot

So much so at this rate
elephants will not be
Around very much longer
Sadly as most can see

The biggest of the land animals
Who clearly have little hope
For man is the aggressor
And the poor souls cannot cope

With machine guns and
Kalashnikovs
The poachers seem to know
Where they are
And when to shoot
As ivory sales just grow

China and the Far East
Apparently they buy
Everything thats offered
Which my dears is why

Unless we can do something soon
And get behind this trade
Elephants will become extinct
And their memory will fade
