Dwindling numbers

Asclepias An essential plant
The milkweed had it’s place
The arrogance of Monsanto
Reprobates whose case
Was ignorantly created
For glyphosate It be
Used as a foil for common sense
And now of course we see
The Monarch Butterflies
Dwindling numbers
The grasslands pulled up and replaced
With corn and soya
Monsanto’s cash cows
Corporate fodder which has torn
Huge great swathes of monoculture
This unnatural profit base
Causing a complete disaster
Where Monarchs dare not show their face
Milkweed gave them cherished cover
Milkweed made them poisonous to
Those insects who might relish eating
Them but now what could they all do
From Mexico to Canada
The environment is altered so
What was balanced and sustainable
Is now altered by Monsanto
The genetic qualms they are now out there iron chips and gal
Changing everything we see
It’s out of kilter it’s so unnatural
It’s not where we were born to be
Corn chips and gasoline are showing
Deforestation before our eyes
It doesn’t feel right
It doesn’t look right
And to most the ones who realise
It isn’t right it’s a take over
The genetic curtain has fallen foul
Across the wild fields into sunlight
And it’s it’s place a genetic bowel
Sends it’s shit in all directions
Imbalances the world we see
Once there was a great connection
But now it’s one big travesty
