BaseJumpers

For most of us just contemplating
BASE jumping we feel
Such action is just crazy
How can it be real
But those who feel that spirit
Know the adrenaline that’s there
It’s about determination
A single mindedness all share

It’s that challenge
It’s that rush
The excitement the intrepid
The undaunted voice
That flush
That takes on the indomitable
And does it out of choice

The doggedness the exhilaration
The danger
It’s just there
Leaping into super space
And being so aware
Flying arms outstretched
The cold wind biting in your face
Rocks flashing by you might soon die
A man in what a race

It is to stare, into beyond
Down through the misty cloud
Falling like a bullet
Working through the cloud
With ultra impetuosity
Thrilled in such a scene
Of wonderment
Of madness
Mercurial and excitable
It’s been

And abandoned and highly strung
Base jumper
Evokes such spirit
Re kindling among

The so called force
Of gravity
They be
Hurtling like a condor
With the parachute pulling free
Danger is his master
Being totally unafraid
Being rather resolute
In wings and talons weighed

Knowing just how great those watching
Absorbed and arrested by
The singled minded
The turbulence
Which cometh from on high
