Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens

Elephant rides and circus

are part of this array

a massive expanse of botanical growth

and great chunks of green display

paths and walk ways everywhere

a tourists paradise

but again  we see the cruelty

and really its not nice

troops of elephants

hitched up and walking all the day

on concrete roads and this is not

good for them, for they

must withstand the heat and concrete

there is no give and so

their feet oh how they suffer

everywhere they go

also there is a  circus

packed with the ignorant who

go there for a good time

forgetting what they do

elephant riding contraptions

damaging their soul

trained with deprivation

and  beating them a role

the workers do apparently

without an ounce of thought

these are sentient beings

who do get so distraught

but just have to continue

they have no course to run

and of course it is the tropics

under the hot sun

beating down relentlessly

the anguish of it all

day after day night after night

and really there is a wall

of silence from the handlers

no water  when they are dry

so torture is a consequence

and that now is no lie

Nong Nooch Tropical Gardens

the tourists flood there they

are culpable for the cruelty

all along the way

but of course they do not see it

or forget it when they are there

Thailand has to be reminded

just now  how  unfair

they are to all these animals

that are expected to

give their souls for nothing

for that is what they do

a life of utter misery

a life of pain and woe

every hazard thrown at them

now where ere they go
