this story fills me with dismay
and it happened, just
today
hundreds of dolphins got away
but the Danish Navy came
all guns blazing arrested the crew
the “Spitfire” women
heroines true
they should have been killed
the dolphins they
should have been slaughtered
and made to pay
white sided dolphins
swam with their lives
thanks to these women
those bloody knives
were not employed at gouging lumps
out of their bodies
their internal pumps
blood in the water
crimson spray
the murdering people
making them pay
no need to slaughter
what’s it about
sadistic bastards I hear you shout
its a hopeless tale
of despondency
of desperation in the sea
unpropitious
ominous too
such cowardliness
what can we do
an unsightliness
a graceless act
a wall of woe
who can react
to such bloody evil
to innocent souls
who whimper and whine
to these numbed down trolls
irreconcilable
on this day
remorseful and rueful
what can one say
so much pain and no empathy
and no compassion
for us to see
just brutality
and an evil streak
obnoxious and odious
to the meek
it makes no sense
and it grieves us all
its not culture
only a fool
would say or believe
such a lame excuse
its a heinous crime
and a lousy ruse
the heroines and there
are three
gave their all
for their empathy
with the great sea souls
burdened by
the Faroese whose wish was to try
and capture and kill each one
for they
grind out the pods
and make them pay
but the navy came
and Denmark acted
arrested the crew
who had interacted
with time and care and love abroad
only to perish on the sword
impounding their boat
the spitfire she
would now make 4 boats
tragically
held by the Danes
deciding they
would police it all
with some dismay
The dolphins saved
a collective sigh
there just must not be
more to die
the Faroes and Japan now kill
already too many
the blood they spill
sickens us, frightens us
tears at out soul
good old sea shepherd
they try to control
but now its the navy
running the thing
wanting the killings
to go on and bring
more bloody carnage
into the sea
and into the hearts of people like me
we fight for their rights
someone has to
or the sea would run red
and never be blue
