Imagine the torture
of each human soul
what goes on out there
beyond our control
what the eyes see
the heart can’t contain
what the mind knows
only, the insane
can imagine the hurt
can live with this woe
can stomach the stress
and come back again
to a home they forgot
in the mayhem of war
they may have been shot
buddies have died
blown up and smashed
like dolls in a box
their bodies just trashed
the skies have turned orange
the forests torn down
the power of the weaponry
in blood we drown
why do we come back
why us, we ask
when others were in the ground
every mask
signifies those souls
lost in the fight
their eyes closed forever
they will not see the light
of the sun on the fields
of the rain on the street
inside us it builds
to a vast huge crescendo
that wakes us at night
we hear every scream
every shell that does bite
every child that lay bleeding
every women we saw
thrown out of her home
in a puddle of gore
we come back to the city
we left years ago
everythings changed
no one wants to know
only we realize
what we’ve been through
suicide feels like a moment
to woo
a way out of all of this
a chance to be
back with those chums
who we lost in the sea
the theatre of war
the forests the mayhem
that most now ignore
