Camels and their plight in India

In India

they get around certain Laws

that’s what we’ve found

transportation interstate

and religious sacrifice

of late

the transportation

through out its duration

can be torturous and bad

cruel and  foreboding

when they are loading

the rest of the journey just sad

camels abused by all and sundry

from Rajasthan to

Naresh Kadyan

and when the ritual slaughter happens

even if it goes to plan

the evil and the consequence is

brutality that seldom could

be anything but really shattering

for onlookers who really should

realise that what they are seeing

is frightful no religious man

should ever indulge in this vile slaughter

from the moment that it began

I realised their souls were vanquished

their spirits broken

their sickness cast

that animal was drenched in anger

torn to ribbons and I aghast

to what I witnessed

it will never

leave my mind where ere I go

the cruelty it took its toll

as its eyes, its throat, its heart

did show

that crimson fountain

gushed for ever

all its life force

splashing down

to roars of human

so called people

such religion

it does drown

out the fervour

and the darkness

all around the victim I

saw a spirit climb and falter

and still have tears

now in my eye

its dance of death

choking as it fought

for breath

gesticulating till it dropped

remonstrating till they stopped
