The Taiji Museum
is now to where
they go to watch the little calf
whose despair
is evidenced by the continued
refrain
as she circles the tank again and again
the caption reads she looks
to find her mama
but reality told her
that she is far
far away in the land where all dead dolphins go
at the hand of the japanese
she does now know
her mother chose suicide
she coudn’t bear
to see her babe captured
a baby so rare
she knew she would die
at their hands anyway
and took it on herself
to die and to pay
the ultimate sacrifice
that final fling
she went down to the bottom
and just couldn’t bring
herself back to seeing
the inevitable, she
knew her sweet baby
was lost tragically
Those fishermen realised
what they had there
was money in the bank
a yen storm so rare
they split up the family
but they didn’t care
if the mother died
they were all unaware
a hard race of cold hearted
people who will
take the advantage
blood they will spill
it matters not to them
for what they do
the albino dolphin
is there still on view
its frustrating swim
it mum on its mind
as for the rest of its journey
its blind
to life as we know it
one day it will go
the way of its mother
that fact we all know
it knows she’s not there
for her voice it is quiet
no communication
out of the light
she swims round and round
in her cycle of fear
a lost soul
her main role
to remind us
its clear
