Teaching children to kill

it seems its almost labelled as a cultural thing
for some hunting and killing always seems to bring
something masculine out in the open
and we see
children facing up to animals
who truly have to be
taught its right to kill them
aim the gun and fire
shoot them right between the eyes
its what men do
to tire
me out like this is crazy
for children have to know
what’s right and what’s wrong
about killing
for it is all part of the show

but why is it so common
for children to be shown
its right to kill an animal
more so, than they’ve known
a father needs to teach the children
that only pansies cry
a man must take the gun and shoot
and ensure the beast does die

its a pastime for the cowardly
nothing is ever gained
from killing mammals in cold blood
as their life is drained
from them, which is often
when we think what we have done
denied them life that we have
denied them any fun

our father urges us to kill
his camouflage gear’s cool
the way he holds his rifle
and my dad is so tall
the weasel needs a bullet
to shut him up a while
and to do it with a rifle
shows them you’ve got style

to my mind it is evil
its not bonding with a child
to take it to the forest
and kill something that’s wild
its a terrible denial
its wrong completely wrong
and its all about a place
where really children don’t belong
