Foie Gras

A purgatorial pantry producing
pitiable portions
of what can only be described
as jugular contortions
torturing Ducks and Geese
in what is a dastardly display
of force feeding and manipulation
which forces me to say
to even call this food
is to allude
to all the pain
pushing a metal tube in a throat
all that blood and strain
causing ulceration
and the liver just to swell
to ten times how God made it
means it must be forged in Hell

For a store to be in denial
and flog it as it does
ignoring all the cries of woe
and what is a continual buzz
of unhappiness around the town
at why so great a store
should purchase from the gutter
and the sanity ignore

tonight this store is entertaining
an evening soiree, they
no doubt will serve their favourite products
and drink the night away
whilst heaving in the farms abroad
crowds of unfortunate birds
quiver as the torture carries on
and, I’m lost for words

as to why such an esteemed house
would do this anyway
why are they so ignorant
what they ought to say
is we agree its horrendous
its torture in each can
and we are only sorry
that we ever ran

such an awful product
that causes blood to flow
the cries and anguish of those birds
of course each day does grow
many just keel over before their allotted time
legs in the air they no longer care
drowned in their own chyme

this is what we are doing
to fine birds in their prime
the same creative power in you
with the passing of time
such a sinister end such an awful pain
such a nasty thing to do
and the fact that some
would eat their livers
one must take the view

the farmers come from Satan’s den
the purveyors they are too
the consumer well it wont be long
for they will be eaten too
by the maggots and the bugs that bite
the diseased liver it will
fester and deliver the foulest smelliest swill

Peta ‘s on the pavement
outside the infamous store
that might have a royal warrant
and attract the snobs galore
but thinking thoughtful caring people
they would not frequent
a store whose judgement was shot away
and their ethical quality spent
