Dogs and cats from China

Cultures change where ever
we go
in this small world
in China they eat cats and dogs
in tiny cages curled
up we sometimes see them
waiting to be killed
hammered to death
or boiled alive
their blood is indeed spilled

and the west looks on in horror
forgets to see the Lambs
those dainty curly creatures
that leap around the rams
that play with little daisies
that grow out of the grass
whose throats we slit
and watch them bleed out
we’re as bold as brass

then lets go to France
where geese are treated terribly
force fed with fat corn
until their livers swell and be
pressing on their rib cage
breathless in agony
that is where they are
a knife goes through their aching throat
and that is called foie gras
ALL COUNTRIES LIKE THEIR KILLING
and kill souls all the time
we point our fingers at the Chinese
killing dogs that climb
or try to climb out of their cages
desperate to get away
we see it in our slaughterhouses
the cows
what can we say
slung up on the gantries
great big mothers who
don’t get stunned
just a slit throat
that’s now what we do
watch them do the dance of death
and bleed out from on high
nobody is pointing fingers
at them
I wonder why
for everyone of those sweet souls
whatever type they be
the pigeon or the Pheasant rr the
bold big bright Turkey
the grouse the partridge
chicken all of them all die
we break their necks we slit their throats
that’s no word of a lie

yes the cats and dogs eat meat
yes they are our pets
yes the Chinese do it
and for us it never whets our appetites
in Europe
but still those of us who
eat meat had best keep our mouths shut
for we cause horrors too

I have been a vegan
for 44 years and
that has saved a lot pain
for animals my hand
has never killed an animal
and so I now can say
all creatures great and small
should not be eaten anyway

China should refrain from cats and dogs
and I hope they will
and we should refrain from lambs and piglets and calves
and chicks until
they have a bit more life in them
to eat a baby you
are terrible so bloody terrible
I just don’t like you

at least more should go vegan
and please stop eating cream
so the calves can share the bounty
and not just share a scream
