Tania and the angels

To be all alone
in the desert must have
cut into her soul
on one’s last legs
lost in a maze of sadness
one’s control
beaten back by misery
and the loneliness of strife
lacking food and water
and wondering why life
has dealt you such
an awful hand
as you are friendless still
a shadow of your former self
broken now your will
under such vile pressure
to close your eyes and die
then into your environment
came a rather joyful guy
he smiled and you felt a little hope
flooding back into
he walked away and came back
with tortillas what a true
inspiration he was and water too
he gave
this from a total stranger
somehow he tried to save
you a wretch that no one loved
discarded, left to die
but one tall angel turned up
and helped you which was why
you rallied in that moment
the guy met others who
came back for to lend a hand
but alas what could they do
the dog was not around alas
missing so to say
lost in a cloud of confusion
so they all went on their way
but one came back and searched and searched
and finally she was found
whimpering and dying really
prostrate on the ground
so pitiful
so tragic
ribs everyone could see
she was just a bag of bones
but somehow instantly was able
to imagine the bounty that lay ahead
very close to closing off
and actually being dead
everywhere was ravaged her skin
her fur for she
had been overcome by the fleas and lice
and the ticks and you could see
she was in the most sorry state
but within the parlous form
was a little heart a beating still
which turned out to be still warm
still hopeful of assistance
and so it was to be
Tania joined a family of rescue dogs
and she
now lives happily ever after
with Martha her true friend
and she really thanks her lucky stars
and has asked me to send
her thanks to that guy who saved her
who brought her back to life
with tortillas and with water
that pushed aside the strife
